Help Bring About Independence for ALL
02 Jul 10 12:00 AM CDT

Dear Friends,
On the cusp of America’s birthday, when we pause to honor those who serve in the U.S. military, it is an opportunity to remind our fellow citizens of the precious freedoms we have as Americans.
And as we pause this Fourth of July, we must also remind ourselves that freedom must be tempered with justice. Thousands of our brave American servicemembers are also lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT). They proudly wear their uniforms as a badge of honor, but must live with the reality that the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy creates a badge of shame.
Take action now. Call both your US Senators today ((202) 224-3121) and tell them to support the repeal and follow the lead of Senator Carl Levin on any attempts to strike the repeal or weaken the language.
We call upon all people of good will to work fervently to repeal the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy. Please visit the TAKE ACTION page of our allies at Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN) and let your voices be heard. We appeal to the better angels of our nature to overturn this egregious injustice.
Yours in the struggle,
Sharon J. Lettman
